Irish language campaigners have presented letters to the secretary of state.
The Dream Dearg delegation was mostly made up of young Irish speakers who are asking James Brokenshire to engage with them on their demand for an Irish Language Act.
The letters include personal and official correspondences.
Sinn Féin’s Niall Ó Donnghaile was at Hillsborough Castle with the group on Tuesday morning and said the British government has “failed to honour its commitment”.
He went on: “We need a standalone Irish Language Act which is fit for purpose. It’s time for legislation, which protects the rights of Irish language speakers.
“I commend the Irish language community for their campaign which will continue until we see an end to the denial of rights enjoyed by citizens right across these islands.”
