Between May and June of 2023, 470 of you used this tool to write to the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education, Mark Browne, regarding the devastating cuts which were proposed for Irish language early years services as a result of the cuts to the education budget. Since then, the decision has been reversed and the money for Pathway, Sure Start and BrightStart services have been reinstated.

The most recent budget cuts have had a devastating impact on communities across the north, coming at a time when so many people are already struggling to keep their head above water. The impact has been particularly felt within the Irish language community, where cuts to vital Irish language services have threatened the future of the organisations working tirelessly to provide them.

Any reduction in the already limited, yet vital Irish language services would be catastrophic for the development of the burgeoning Irish language community and undermine the organic, bottom-up revival that is the subject of international acclaim.

We stand with those groups whose funding is in jeopardy and we are determined to support them in their campaign to #StadAnSlad (Stop the Cuts).
